identifies Doctors & Physicians who meet specific criteria
for education, training and experience.
CIME
- Certified Independent Medical Examiner
IME Doctors also meet continuing
medical education requirements, demonstrate competency by
passing a rigorous, hours of certification examinations, and
agree to abide by an ABIME ethical code. The certified
independent medical examiner (CIME) receives an individual
certification number, valid for 5 years.
Eligibility Requirements include a
current unrestricted medical license / registration to
practice medicine / surgery; a record clear of any
disciplinary action imposed by a state medical board within
the past 5 years.
Board certification in a medical
specialty recognized by the
American Board of Medical
Specialties or the
American Osteopathic Association or
corresponding international authorities ... or have
practiced medicine 5 years, including residency years;
completion of at least 15 hours of ABIME sponsored /
accredited coursework in this field within 1 year prior to
taking the examination - signed agreement to abide by the
ABIME Guidelines of Conduct.
